Carpal tunnel syndrome

Typically 3 to 6 visits, with no surgery

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) causes numbness and tingling in the hand and arm from a pinched nerve in the wrist. Wrist anatomy, other health conditions, and the way you use your hands can all contribute. The main symptoms are pain in the hand and arm with numbness or tingling.

Trigger finger

Typically 3 treatments

Trigger finger is a condition in which a finger gets stuck in a bent position and then snaps straight. It happens when the tendon in the finger becomes inflamed. Women, people with diabetes or arthritis, and people whose work or hobbies strain their hands are most at risk.

Common symptoms

  • Stiffness
  • A popping or clicking feeling
  • Tenderness in the affected finger
  • Locking that is usually worse in the morning

Peripheral neuropathy in the hands

Plans start at 6 visits and may continue, based on your consultation

Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. It often causes weakness, numbness, and pain in the hands and feet.

How treatment works

Focused shockwave therapy

Focused shockwave therapy sends short pulses of acoustic energy into an injured tendon, muscle, or other soft tissue. The goal is to increase blood flow and support healing in an area that has stopped improving on its own. We use the Storz Medical DuoLith SD1.

There is no surgery, no anesthesia, and no injection. Most patients feel a tingling or tapping sensation during the session, and our nurse adjusts the energy for your comfort. You can go back to work or your normal routine right after.

Before you start

Shockwave therapy is not right for everyone. We do not treat people who are pregnant, have hemophilia, have had steroid injections in the last six weeks, or are still growing (incomplete bone growth). We will ask about your health and medicines, and a licensed physician reviews your answers before treatment.

Shockwave treatment works by encouraging a healing response, so we may ask you to avoid anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen during your treatment course. Do not stop any prescribed medicine without talking to your doctor first.

About FDA status. The Storz DuoLith SD1 is FDA approved for heel pain from chronic plantar fasciitis in adults who have tried other conservative treatments for at least six months. Using it for other conditions is considered off-label. Our medical director reviews your health history before treatment, and results vary from person to person.
